Project Coordination Meeting between AEMG Group and Southwest University’s Melbourne Graduate Institute

On the morning of October 16, AEMG Group and Southwest University (SWU) had held an online meeting regarding the Melbourne Graduate Institute project coordination. AEMG Group Director General Ms. Jenny Wang, Southwest University Vice President Prof. Jin Yule, Graduate School, Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, College of Psychology, College of Education, College of Computer and Information Science, College of Animal Science and Technology, College of Agronomy and Biotechnology, College of Environmental Resources, and relevant AEMG department heads attended the meeting.

Ms. Jenny Wang introduced the framework and model of MGI, saying that MGI is a brand new exploration of SWU after Westa College in which, AEMG has made it possible for the University to operate its own Chinese-foreign joint school overseas. As an offshore graduate school of SWU, MGI carries the tasks of establishment of international research centers; overseas registration, management and teaching of graduate students; as well as the recruitment of high-quality overseas Master’s and PhD students. AEMG Group Division of Research and Graduate School Head reported on the progress of MGI since its inauguration in December 2019, in particular the Joint Research Center in Psychology under MGI, where the first batch of joint PhD students recruitment with Flinders University have ended and are moving on to the next phase of research study.

Prof. Tu Tao, Deputy Dean of Graduate School of SWU, fully affirmed the important role played by the Group and MGI in the internationalization of postgraduate training, and is committed to actively facilitate the development of MGI. The heads of Colleges then discussed and exchanged views on relevant issues.

Lastly, SWU Vice President Prof. Jin Yule provided working instructions to drive the project forward, and hoped that through the integration of high-quality overseas resources, MGI would offer high-quality and high-level postgraduate training, and comprehensively enhance the university’s research strength and level of internationalization.
