In the afternoon of September 14, 2018, the School of International Modern Design Art of Inner Mongolia Normal University held a Joint Opening Ceremony for freshmen and their parents of the 2018 Sino-foreign joint education program in Saihan Campus. JIA Yuehua, the Secretary of International Modern Design Art School, LI Shaobo, Dean of the School of International Modern Design Art, Inner Mongolia Normal University, Professsor Bas Baskaran, Dr Xiao LIU and Ms Neema Thomas of Deakin University took part in this activity. Additionally, representatives of students studying abroad in 2014 attended the event. AEMG Senior Manager of Inner Mongolia Region Mr. NA Risu also attended the ceremony.
Initially, the School of International Modern Design and Art was introduced to parents and students by the head of the department, XIE Jiwu.
After that, JIA Yuehua, the Secretary of the School of International Modern Design and Art of Inner Mongolia Normal University, carried out the entrance ideological education, reminding students to cherish the time at university, study hard and establish positive values and right outlook on life.
Then, Professor Bas Baskaran of Deakin University, introduced the relevant information of the university and the department, and explained the data of the university in detail.
Additionally, Dr. Xiao LIU introduced the School of Information Technology of Deakin University, and explained on what subjects the students coming from IMNU will study in Deakin University. Moreover, he hoped that the students could go to Deakin University as soon as possible in order to smoothly advance ‘2+2’ project studying.
Finally, a student representative of 2014 cohort studying in Deakin University, told the students about his studying and life experience in Australia, and encouraged students to lay a solid foundation in the first two years, so that they could have more advantages in their future study at Deakin University.
In response to questions from students and their parents, Professor Bas and Dr. Xiao LIU, as well as the student representative gave thoughtful answers. Finally, all the students took a photo.
Through this meeting, the students not only have a good understanding of the Sino-Australia joint education program, but also have a clearer understanding of the direction of studying at university and their future development.
