On the afternoon of March 14th, 2019，the Meeting of Melbourne Graduate Institute (MGI) and the Signing Ceremony of the Cooperation Memorandum was held in Southwest University. President of AEMG Roger LI, Director General Jenny WANG, Vice President (strategy and research) professor Peter Frappell, Principal of Southwest University professor Weiguo ZHANG, vice President professor Yule JIN and other key leaders of relevant departments and schools of the university attended the meeting and signing ceremony.
Vice President Yule JIN firstly delivered a speech on behalf of the university, recalling the sincere cooperation between the university and high-level universities in Australia and New Zealand in recent years, and fully appreciated the hard work of the team involved in the preparatory work of the Melbourne Graduate Institute project. AEMG Director General Jenny WANG as well as Vice President Peter Frappell made detailed introductions about the Melbourne Graduate Institute and the joint research center respectively. The experts and leaders at the meeting had an in-depth discussion on the cooperation model and operation mechanism, then fully exchanged views.
Principal Weiguo ZHANG summarized in the meeting that Melbourne Graduate Institute program had an important significance to the construction of “Double Top Universities” and there was great value. It is also a major breakthrough for promoting the development of the international school, a new try for cultivating internationalized talents and opening-up actions of international communication from the “bringing in ” to the “going out” development.
Finally, under the witness of leaders and experts attending the meeting, Principal Weiguo ZHANG and President Roger LI signed the Memorandum of Cooperation of Melbourne Graduate Institute of Southwest University.
