Delegation of University of Western Australia Led By Vice Chancellor Mr. Paul Johnson Visited Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine

On 21 April, 2016, with the invitation from AEMG and Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, delegation of University of Western Australia led by Vice Chancellor Mr. Paul Johnson, accompanied by CEO of AEMG Mr. Roger Li and Manager of AEMG NUCM Program Branch Ms. Karen Tian, visited Nanjing University of Traditional Medicine. Vice President of NUCM Mr. HUANG Guicheng, Director of Global Engagement Department Mr. LIU Qin, Deputy Director Mr. JIANG Jibiao, Head of School of Postgraduates Mr. ZHANG Xu and Head of School of Medicine Mr. WU Qinan warmly welcomed the delegation and hosted the meeting afterwards.

Vice President Mr. HUANG Guicheng introduced the history of NUCM in detail. The university now ranked No.1 among universities in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, leading the eduction of undergraduates. NUCM enjoyed a rapid advancement of research standards, as well as a high frequency of global engagement. Also Vice President Mr. HUANG also extended his expectations towards a further cooperation and communication with UWA, in order to improve both universities’ teaching competence and research standards, and to create opportunities for collaborations in teaching, research and medicine.

Vice Chancellor Mr. Paul Johnson thanked NUCM staff for their warm hospitality, and hoped more students could travel to study in Western Australia. They also encouraged students in UWA to visit China and to learn about Chinese culture, general knowledge and traditional Chinese medicine. Pro Vice Chancellor Mr. Iain Watt said during the meeting, through the articulation programs of undergraduates and postgraduates, more collaboration could be achieved, and hoped two universities could further discuss the cooperation mode in detail, in order to carry the process forward.

Witnessed by AEMG, NUCM Vice President HUANG Guicheng and UWA Pro Vice Chancellor Iain Watt signed the agreement of the articulation program.
The visit and agreement promoted the mutual understanding among NUCM, UWA and AEMG, realized communications among all parties and advanced the process of Sino-Australian education collaboration.
