From 16th to 20th of October, 2018, a delegation of Xi’an Conservatory of Music (XACM) , leading by Professor HOU Jie, Head of Orchestral Department, visited The University of Western Australia (UWA) and held cultural exchange activities. The event was organized, sponsored and supported by the Australian Education Management Group (AEMG).
On 17th of October, Alan Lourens, Head of UWA Conservatorium of Music, warmly welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced the achievements UWA has acquired, from the aspects of music education and culture exchange. Then, professors of the delegation shared their music knowledge with students in the masterclasses and directed students their performance technique in person. At lunch time, Kent Anderson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UWA, attended the lunch and expressed his strong confidence of building cooperative relationship with XACM, and also demonstrated his gratefulness to AEMG for all the efforts it did to facilitate internationalization of UWA. In the afternoon, the delegation attended the observation class.
On the evening of 18th and noon of 19th, XACM delegation offered two fantastic concerts, combining western classical music and Chinese traditional music. The performances received widespread attention and also achieved enthusiastic applauses. At evening of 19th of October, the delegation was invited to attend the Culmination Concert and the Founding Ceremony of UWA Conservatorium of Music .
This visit has deepened mutual understanding among the three parties, promoted cultural exchanges and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.
