On the morning of September 4, 2018, Northeast Forestry University (NEFU) held a meeting for the 2018 cohort freshmen of joint education program in Chengdong Building. LI Shunlong, Vice-President of NEFU, SUN Hongzhi, Director of International Affairs, LIU Zhiming, Vice-Director of Academic Affairs, CHENG Peifeng, Dean of Civil Engineering, GU Yongcai, Director of Cooperative Education of Civil Engineering, Fiona Lacey, Associate Pro Vice Chancellor International of Aston University, Associate Pro Vice Chancellor International (China and East Asia), Geoff Pakes, Senior Lecturer John Elgy, Lecturer ZHANG Yuqing and representatives of AEMG attended the meeting.
First of all, President LI extended a warm welcome to Aston delegation, students and their parents. President LI stressed that NEFU and Aston attach great importance to the enrollment of the first Sino British joint education program in NEFU. The two schools will work together to train high-level management personnel with solid theoretical foundation, professional knowledge and international vision.
Dean CHENG Peifeng introduced the history and importance of joint program. He hopes that students can do well in Civil Engineering College.
Geoff Pakes introduced Aston’s team members, a short video showing Aston’s study, life and work. John Elgy gave a detailed description of the content and role of engineering management talents in engineering, and what efforts should be made to train them to be excellent engineering management person.
Secondly, in the questioning section, Mr. ZHANG Yuqing and Director LIU Zhiming gave serious answers to the students’ study, life, further study and employment in Aston and NEFU.
Finally, the ceremony was ended after a group photo of the guests and students.
