2018 “Auchin Cup” National English Drama Competition was Held Successfully

At 18:30 pm on May 26th, the 2018 “Auchin Cup” National English Drama Competition was officially opened at Arts Center Theatre on Jiangning Campus of the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The guests presenting at the competition are AEMG Resources Director Ms. Wang Ailin, the deputy Dean of National Education College of NUAA Prof. Zhang Guoquan, the deputy Dean of Civil Aviation College of NUAA Prof. Sui Dong, the deputy Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Department of NUAA Prof. Chen Feng. Also, some representative leaders and professors from partner universities at home and abroad such as RMIT, UTAS, SDUST, as well as AEMG Teaching Supervisor, the Directors of Teaching Department were present at the competition.

The theme of the competition was “Be International & Innovative”. It was aimed to enhance the team cooperation awareness, to promote the international talents’ temperament, to discover and improve the innovation abilities of CAP students. There were 116 teams attended the preliminary competition, and 16 were selected to move on to the semi-final competition. Finally, there were five teams reach the final competition and compete for the title. They are representatives from Shandong University (Weihai) (SDUW), Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), Central China Normal University (CCNU), Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XUAT), and Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NUCM).

During the competition, the team from XUAT and the team from NUCM used their true feelings to interpret the classic stories “Thunderstorm” and “Beauty and the Beast”, which made the live audience full of praise. The NUAA team and the CCNU team adapted the fairy tales “Snow White” and “Cinderella” to make the old fairy tale keep up with the trend of the times and regenerate. The story of “To Help or Not” compiled and directed by the SDUW team also set off the audience. There were also international students from NUAA offering exciting song and dance performances.

Eventually, NUAA team who performed the “New Cinderella” won the first prize. The team of CCNU and the team of NUCM, who performed the “Snow White” and the “Beauty and the Beast” won the second prize. “To Help or Not” of the SDUW team and “Thunderstorm” of the XUAT team won the third prize. In addition, the organizing committee also selected two best single stage awards which were the Best Stage Performance Award and Best Language Award, respectively won by the roles of Lu Shiping from the XUAT team and the Queen from the CCNU team. The best instructors and the Best Costume team award were won by David Wang from NUAA and “Beauty and the Beast” team from NUCM. At this point, the 2018 “Australian Morning Cup” National Drama English Contest successfully ended.
